As the name suggests it, you will need to replace the canvas with colorful fabric to make the artwork.

The first thing we need to get before starting is the various materials needed for the job. You can use the colorful fabrics with a lot of patterns and color on it as the main look for the art. For the inside of the piece, you can cut a 4 by 4 wooden plank and size it accordingly. Make sure that the fabric will be enough to cover the whole wooden plank front and back. You will also need scissors, hot glue and the glue guns, and staples.

Start the steps of DIY canvas art using fabric by measuring the dimension of the wooden planks that you have. This will be the main dimension that you work with the fabric. Then, using the measurement, put marks on the fabric where you will cut them. It will also be a nice idea to put together different patterns of fabric to make it more beautiful.

If you indeed choose to use different fabric for a piece of artwork, plan the whole palette before cutting the fabric. This can be done by placing the different fabrics close to each other to see if their color will go correctly. If you still have no idea, consult to some color palette online to see the colors that will go harmonically together.

Then, you can start cutting the fabric based on the measurement that you have made before. If you only use one pattern, you can directly sew the fabric on the wooden planks. Meanwhile, several pieces of fabrics will need to be firstly sewn together before placing them on the planks. Make sure that the mark of the thread will not be visible by sewing the fabric from the inside.

After doing the sewing, you can start to stick the fabric onto the planks directly by using hot glue gun and staple. First, place the wooden plank on the back side of the fabric. Fold the fabric based on the form of the plank accordingly and put some glue underneath it. To strengthen the position of the fabric, you can also use the staples on each ends of the fabric.

The DIY canvas art using fabric can also be used to make artwork with your own design. You can do this by using white colored fabric instead. The difference is that you are able to paint the fabric with the patterns that you like. Or print some computerized images on it if you like it.
